A/N: Just a little drabble inspired by the mood of following songs: Zhang Yin Li feat. Xiah - Timeless and Green Day and American Idiot Cast - 21 Guns. Enjoy. :)
We would’ve waited for you, he says and you don’t want to believe but you do. (How can you not?)
We would’ve come to you, he continues and your heart breaks. (In even smaller pieces, their edges too delicate, too sharp.)
But you’ve made a new name for yourselves and suddenly there was no place left for us to fit into, his eyes are sad and they shine with something more than just a trick of the light but they’re calm. (And you lose your hope, the last shreds of it that you held on.)
You’re not going to ever return, he leaves ‘we aren’t going to, either’ unspoken and you agree. (There’s nothing more you can do. Second chances do exist but now they’re counted only in plural.)
